Stuart Pearce has revealed he is learning Italian in order to aid his communication with England manager Fabio Capello.
England Under 21 boss Pearce works alongside Capello at senior level, handing the Italian's coaching staff an English edge.
The squad are currently preparing for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan, and Pearce has spoken of his satisfaction at his role in the senior setup.
He told
Sky Sports News: "Yes (I am learning Italian). While of course they are learning English, it is common sense for me to learn some form of Italian.
"That little bit of communication makes it that little bit easier, especially when the pressure is on at half-time when people are speaking Italian."
Pearce added: "I am certainly enjoying it [working with Capello]. The involvement is a fantastic learning curve."
