Egyptian's absence from international sparks fears for Boro

Middlesbrough have been handed a major selection problem with the news that striker Mido has picked up an injury while on international duty. The Egyptian was expected to represent his national side in their World Cup qualifier against Djibouti this week, but had to withdraw due to a groin injury. "Mido is suffering from a groin problem," revealed Egypt team doctor Ahmed Maged. "He has been left out of Egypt's 18-man squad for the Djibouti match." The injury means that Mido is now a doubt for Boro's clash with Chelsea at the Riverside on Saturday, leaving manager Gareth Southgate with only two fully-fit strikers at his disposal in Jeremie Aliadiere and Afonso Alves.
