Travelling too much for Butler

Grimsby striker Martin Butler has had his contract with the club cancelled by mutual consent. The 34-year-old, who joined the club in October last year, had requested that his contract be cut short because he was finding it difficult commuting to and from the Worcester ground. Despite Town's efforts to keep Butler, the striker admitted that after long travelling stints he would not be at his best to perform for the club and requested an end to his contract. Butler's initial three-month trial move from Walsall in October was made permanent in the January transfer window. In 16 appearances for the Mariners he went on to score six goals.
