Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni is winning his fitness battle to face former club Fiorentina in the UEFA Champions League.
Toni missed training on Sunday after picking up bruised ribs during the weekend win over Karlsruhe.
The Italian international is determined to face his former employers who he left for Bayern in 2007.
"It's obviously a special game for me and I'll do everything to play," said Toni. "I hope it works out."
Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann is hopeful the big forward will be passed fit for Tuesday's clash with the Viola.
"The doctors are very optimistic," said Klinsmann. "It's not 100 percent, though.
"He's extremely motivated and as long as he gets the green light he will play."
