Defender wins praises from Tigers team-mate

Hull star Dean Marney has backed team-mate Michael Turner to break into the England squad. Turner has been instrumental in Hull's suprise success so far this season, including scoring the winner against West Ham on Sunday. Tigers boss Phil Brown has played down talk that Turner could be on the verge of a call-up to the England squad, but Marney believes the former Brentford man is among the best defenders in the country. "On present form he's got to be up there with the best centre-halves around. Not only is he scoring goals but it's his all-round performances," Marney told the Hull Daily Mail. "I'm sure if he keeps going the way he is then there's going to be a lot of people taking a lot of notice of him," added Marney. "It's unbelievable. He just keeps getting better and better with every game."
