Pompey boss wary of busy schedule

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he is not fan of the current set-up of the Uefa Cup. Speaking ahead of his side's trip to Portugal to take on Braga on Thursday night, Redknapp admits he is not in favour of group stages in the Uefa Cup. Redknapp believes the group phase just adds to the hectic fixture schedule and he would prefer a straight forward knockout tie. "Well there is a lot of games (in the group stages) and I would rather have knockout home and away and the best team gets through," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "Really it is an awful lot of fixtures." The clash with Braga begins a run of four games in little over a week and Redknapp concedes the schedule puts an extra strain on his squad. "We have got a busy schedule now. We play here on Thursday, then we play Fulham on Sunday then Liverpool next Wednesday and then come back for Wigan on the weekend," added Redknapp. "Between Thursday and the following Saturday we have got four games and it certainly makes it difficult. "The league is all-important at the end of the day and you have got to make sure you get a good position in the Premier League as it is a tough league again this year. "But we want to carry on in this competition and do well if we can."
