Brazilian star sets his sights high after superb City start

Robinho has revealed he has set himself a 30-goal target after scoring his first Manchester City hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Stoke. City's record signing gave the Blues a 14th-minute lead before adding a second-half double to take his tally to six goals in six league games since his sensational move from Real Madrid. The £32.5million forward is delighted with his City start but is determined to keep on scoring as the Blues chase European qualification. "The main objective is for the team to do well but personally, I want to score more than 30 goals," said Robinho.

Happy

"I am very happy but not completely happy because I still have a lot to learn. "I will be truly happy at the end when we finish what I hope will be a good season. "The Champions League is our goal," he added. "The Premier League is very competitive and it'll be very difficult to get into the top four. "But I believe in the team and I think we can get there." Manager Mark Hughes believes Robinho is revelling in the greater freedom and responsibility he has at City compared to his time in Madrid. "Robinho is key to what we are trying to do here and maybe in the past he has not had that feeling," he said. "He is responding in a really positive way.
Good relationship
"The crowd adore what he is producing and rightly so. He has a really close relationship with everyone here, which shows what an impact he has made here in a very short space of time." It will be a tall order for Robinho to maintain the standards he has set himself so far but Hughes is confident he can do it. "Maybe there will come a point when his form will dip," added the City boss. "We have to make sure we have enough information at hand to ensure it is not too detrimental and his performances don't tail off markedly. "I don't think that will happen. Given the way he approaches training and the work we put into him, I can see him having a great season from start to finish."
