Injuries continue for Hatters, Cherries hope for defensive boost

Luton Town continue to face selection problems for the visit of fellow strugglers Bournemouth, who could call on Jason Pearce. The Hatters were deducted 30 points at the start of the season, while Bournemouth began the new campaign on minus 17. Left-back Sol Davis (thigh) is definitely ruled out, while central midfield duo Rossi Jarvis and Asa Hall (both hip) are touch and go as to whether they will feature. But there is some good news for the Hatters as captain Kevin Nicholls was back running in training no Monday. "Nico is seven to 10 days away with a bit of luck," boss Mick Harford told the Bedford Times & Citizen. Garreth O'Connor (thigh), Ryan Charles (ankle), and Drew Talbot (knee) were all unavailable on Saturday, and it is uncertain if they will play.

Bournemouth news

Bournemouth defender Pearce is aiming to shake off a slight injury ahead of the trip to Kenilworth Road. The centre-back sustained a minor knock in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Lincoln but should be available to face Harford's men. However, striker Michael Rankine could again be missing due to a back problem and Blair Sturrock has returned to Swindon after Cherries boss Jimmy Quinn decided against extending his one-month loan spell. Quinn, meanwhile, is demanding an improvement from his players after Saturday's defeat left them on minus four points - 10 points behind 22nd-placed Grimsby. He said: "I don't like to see players playing with fear because I never did that myself and I was always up for a fight."
