Steven Gerrard insists there is a new-found sense of belief sweeping through Anfield this season.
With the Reds currently perched at the top of the Premier League table, optimism is growing that this may be the year their 18-year wait for a top flight title comes to an end.
With victories over fellow contenders for the crown, Manchester United and Chelsea already secured, Rafa Benitez's side appear to possess all the necessary credentials to make their dream a reality.
Club captain Gerrard certainly believes the red half of Merseyside has been reinvigorated this term, with a welcome air of expectancy now steering the club towards glory.
Gerrard said: "It is a great feeling to be top of the table, especially knowing that we have beaten two of our main title rivals along the way.
"This season we have a belief that we can go anywhere and win. We believe we can win in any situation, even when we have backed ourselves into a corner.
"But no-one here is going to be getting carried away with our position after recent results.
"There is extra pressure being top of the table, we are there to be shot at and we become an even bigger scalp for the rest of the league."
Challenge
Meanwhile, Liverpool's Spanish keeper Jose Reina believes any hope the Reds have of lifting the Premier League title in May rests on their ability to consistently pick up maximum points at home.
"The win over Portsmouth (on Wednesday) was a hugely important three points for us because we have to keep on winning," he said.
"Once you are at the top of the table you have to do everything you can to defend that position and that means winning every game you can.
"We cannot afford to drop any points at home. It is important we keep winning at home and also be consistent away.
"To mount a title challenge you have to be able to win games in every way. You have to be able to come from behind, and also win when in front."
He added: "This season we have got ourselves into a perfect position, but there is still a lot of football to be played.
"But we are taking little steps in the right direction all the time and we believe we are going to win every time we go onto the field."
