Portsmouth midfielder Jean-Francois Christophe would be keen to sign a permanent deal at Southend.

Midfielder keen to be playing regular first-team football

Jean-Francois Christophe would be keen to sign a permanent deal at Southend United at the end of his loan spell from Portsmouth. The midfielder is nearing the end of his second month at Roots Hall and is likely to stay on loan until the start of December. Southend boss Steve Tilson wants to hang on to Christophe for the long term and the Frenchman would be willing to remain with the League One club. "I am happy the manager has said that and I would like to sign here," Christophe told the club's official website.

Working hard

"I am in the last year of my contract with Portsmouth and I am playing for my future. "I'm working hard and I like it at Southend because it's a good club. I have been given a lot of time to play, the gaffer has given me confidence and we are doing well. "We have a good team and I want to grow up with this side because me and my family like it in England. "It is also better to be playing for a real team rather than the reserves at Portsmouth which isn't so good."
