Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted that Chelsea are finding it difficult to change their style.
Blues boss rues failure to sign Robinho
Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted that Chelsea will be unable to change their style until they sign a player who has 'something different'.
The Blues boss was keen to sign Robinho over the summer but the Brazilian forward eventually sealed a surprise move to Manchester City on transfer deadline day for a British record fee.
Chelsea have earned praise for a more expansive brand of football this season but Scolari accepts that his team need to be more flexible.
"We have a style of play and we need to change that sometimes," said Scolari.
"We will change that style when we have a player with a different style.
"When I came to Chelsea, I said I wanted one player who is different - someone who'll try something different when we play against teams who close us down.
"But now we have a style of play and we need to stick with it."
Opportunities
Chelsea have won all five of their away games in the Premier League this term, while their long unbeaten home record came to an end with a defeat to Liverpool last weekend and they have dropped points in two other matches at Stamford Bridge.
Scolari said: "It's easier for us to play away because opponents open up more and give us more chances.
"We have more opportunities to open up the play, with more space."
Scolari was disappointed to miss out on Robinho during the transfer window and he believes the former Real Madrid player would have given him more options.
He said: "I want what I said when I arrived here. I need two or three systems of play, not just one.
"I don't know if the player I need is Robinho. I have good players for one system but I need sometimes to change my system."
