Striker keen to keep up pressure on rivals
Striker Gregg Blundell hopes Darlington's winning streak increases the pressure on their League Two rivals.
Dave Penney's side have won five of their last six matches to edge ahead of Wycombe at the top of the table, although Peter Taylor's side still have a game in hand.
And Blundell, who enjoyed promotion from the Football League's lowest tier with Penney during their Doncaster days together, can see similarities with the Darlington squad.
He told
skysports.com: "I've been lucky enough to have tasted promotion from this division before with Doncaster Rovers and we got into a mentality that we got used to winning and it was hard to break.
"We want to get into the habit because it puts pressure on the other teams because you are constantly winning games and they set up differently against you.
"Hopefully we can continue the run and form a little gap for ourselves at the top because one defeat and you can slip four or five places.
"So we've just got to keep our heads down and keep winning and hope that we can emerge from the pack at the right end of the table. We just want to make sure that come the end of the season we are up where we belong."
Chance
The former Chester striker made just his second league start of the season in the 2-1 win over Grimsby on Saturday and hopes that he can take the chance given to him due to fellow striker Liam Hatch's hamstring injury.
He added: "Hatchey felt a little pull in the Rotherham game and it was just a case of quickly getting stripped and ready to come on with quite a bit of the game remaining.
"It was nice to get on and make a difference and help contribute to the winning goal. It was good to cause them a few problems and whether I started on Saturday or remained on the bench again was up to the gaffer.
"Obviously, I'd want to start every game I can, but when a team's in the form we are in, then you just have to sit there and wait for your chance to come around.
"Whether your chance comes due to another player getting injured or your own performances in training, you've just got to take it when you're given the opportunity to show what you can do on the pitch. Hopefully I can take this chance in the next few games."
