Dirk Kuyt insists Liverpool are not feeling the pressure after losing their first game of the season.

Reds striker keen to move on from Spurs defeat

Dirk Kuyt insists Liverpool will not feel under any additional pressure for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against Atletico Madrid despite losing their first game of the season on Sunday. The Reds dominated for most of the match at Tottenham but suffered a last-gasp defeat at White Hart Lane to slip to second in the table. Kuyt believes his side will be looking to make amends for that disappointing result by beating their Spanish opponents at Anfield. "We are always under pressure, with a big game virtually every three days," said Kuyt. "We are used to such a situation. "But we will not be looking backwards, we will be intent on securing qualification from our group as quick as possible.

First

"Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have all lost games this season, and that was our first at Spurs. "We have quality in our team and we know what we are capable of. We will set out to make sure we beat Atletico, we will not be worrying about what happened at Spurs." Kuyt, Liverpool's leading scorer this term, admits his side were left to rue missed chances at the weekend which is something they'll be looking to eradicate in their upcoming games. "We have to be more ruthless, we must take the chances we make or things like what happened at Spurs will happen again," he added.
Confident
"Everybody knew after Saturday what the problem was - there was not much that the manager needed to say. We played very well again, we were on top for a long time. "But we missed too many chances. Sometimes that happens, so now we must make sure we are ready for Atletico and make sure the same does not happen again. "We are confident as a team that we can win every game. If we are focused, ready and take our chances, that will happen." Liverpool can qualify for the Champions League knockout stages with a win over Atletico at Anfield providing PSV Eindhoven lose in Marseille. Kuyt admits that qualifying would be a weight off the player's shoulders, adding: "We must beat Atletico, we want to qualify quickly for the next stage. "We want to be first in the group. This is a very important game."
