Atletico striker in confident mood

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan is looking forward to returning to England to face Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League. The Uruguayan spent two years with Manchester United before moving to Villarreal in 2004. He joined Atletico last summer and is now relishing the prospect of taking to the field at Anfield in Tuesday's Group D clash. "For me to return to England and to play at Anfield will be very special," Forlan told skysports.com. Liverpool have made an excellent start to the season both on the domestic and European fronts and Forlan is wary of the threat presented by Rafa Benitez's men. However, he nevertheless feels that Atletico can take confidence from the 1-1 draw in Madrid last month. "Liverpool are in form at the moment. They are a hard rival but in Madrid we dominated in some phases of the match and that is important ahead of Tuesday's match. "Atletico go to Anfield with a lot of confidence and without fear. Now we are level with the Reds in the table and we have the same chance to progress. "It is not easy to win in Liverpool but the players think it is possible if we play our best from the first minute."

No trauma

Forlan, who had a difficult spell with United, added: "I want to score a goal at Liverpool to help my club and not for personal reasons. "My stay in the Premier League was not positive because at Manchester United I did not get the chance to succeed. "But this is not a trauma for me. I have demonstrated my level in Spain." Forlan accepts that it will be difficult for Atletico's defence to handle their former striker Fernando Torres if he recovers sufficiently from a hamstring problem to line up for Liverpool. But Forlan feels Argentine starlet Sergio Aguero will pose just as many problems for the Premier League side. "Fernando Torres is today one of the best strikers in the world. If he plays at Anfield it will be a big problem." "Aguero is the heir of Torres at Atletico. He is young but has the quality of a veteran."
