Striker out for Quakers, duo banned for Shakers

Darlington are without Liam Hatch for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at home to Bury, who have two players suspended. Hatch, on loan from Peterborough, has been ruled out for around three weeks after the striker sustained a hamstring injury in the victory over Rotherham. The League Two leaders may rest Alan White to give Ian Miller a first-team opportunity while Rob Purdie (groin) is likely to miss out to be given more recovery time. Boss Dave Penney is also keen to give Polish goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazmierczak a run-out but is unsure whether it will be possible due to the competition guidelines. Under the competition rules, clubs are required to include at least six of their first XI that have appeared most often in first-team games this season.

Bury news

Bury boss Alan Knill will be without suspended duo Efe Sodje and Stephen Dawson for the Northern Section quarter-final clash at Darlington. The pair sit out after picking up their fifth cautions of the season in the 1-0 defeat by Bradford at Valley Parade. Richie Baker is set to come in for Dawson in midfield, while Ben Futcher is likely to be given the nod in defence in place of Sodje. The Shakers returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Notts County at the weekend but face a tough task against the League Two leaders. Bury knocked out Stockport in the last round but with a stomach bug going around, Knill could be forced to rest a few players, including striker Andy Bishop and goalkeeper Wayne Brown.
