The Northern Section saw more upsets as favourites
Leicester were dumped out of the tournament by in-form
Rotherham.
The Foxes are the latest club to join the Millers' impressive list of cup scalps this term. Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves, Leeds and Southampton have all tasted defeat to Rotherham this season.
Mark Robins' side progressed with goals in each half as Drewe Broughton and Dale Tonge fired home.
Rotherham are now joined in the Northern Section semi-finals by
Darlington, Scunthorpe and Tranmere.
The Quakers progressed thanks to a 1-0 home win over
Bury. Alan White scored the only goal of the game just before the hour.
Likewise, there were just one goal in the matches at Glanford Park and Prenton Park.
Scunthorpe left it until the final minute to seal their passage against
Rochdale as David Mirfin scored for the Iron.
Tranmere went through thanks to Ryan Shotton's goal, which came on the stroke of half-time against
Morecambe.
In the Southern Section, their was an emphatic triumph at the Prostar Stadium as
Shrewsbury hammered
Dagenham & Redbridge 5-0.
The match was all-but over by the break as Grant Holt grabbed a brace and Steven Leslie pounced.
After the break the win was capped with goals from Richard Walker and Graham Coughlan.
League Two basement side
Luton produced a shock at the Bescot Stadium as they beat
Walsall 1-0.
The only goal of the game arrived in the final minute as Rossi Jarvis fired home.
Colchester progressed with a 1-0 win at Dean Court against
Bournemouth as Sam Williams' first-half goal proved enough for Paul Lambert's side.
The one remaining fixture is Brighton against Swindon, which is to be played later this month.
