Blues boss philosophical after defeat
Luiz Felipe Scolari believed his Chelsea side gifted Roma their victory after going down 3-1 in the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday night.
Last season's UEFA Champions League finalists dominated proceedings before unmarked former Blues defender Christian Panucci tapped in on 34 minutes.
The home side then went three goals up thanks to a brace from Mirko Vucinic on 48 and 58 minutes, before John Terry got a consolation in the 75th minute.
Deco was then harshly sent off for a second bookable offence after taking a free-kick too quickly.
The result means Group A is now very tight, with Chelsea leading by just a point from Roma and Bordeaux, where they visit next.
Mistakes
Scolari said: "We gave too many opportunities to Roma.
"We made too many mistakes, made wrong passes and had bad positions.
"[For the] first goal there was not any player covering him (Panucci) when they crossed. After this, we were anxious and gave more opportunities.
"It's okay, all of the groups are difficult. We lost one game here and there are other teams arriving behind us.
"If we draw today we are in good condition but we did not play very well and it was impossible to draw or win.
"We now have two chances to win against Bordeaux and Cluj. We'll try."
