Rangers hit-man gives praise to strike-partner
Kris Boyd believes his blossoming partnership with Kenny Miller is keeping both of them in Walter Smith's starting XI.
The in-form striker took his tally for the season to 11 on Sunday, courtesy of a Miller assist, as Rangers eventually ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Kilmarnock.
Boyd had already struck the bar and missed a penalty when he etched his name on the scoresheet in the second half.
And Boyd is confident the partnership will continue to flourish as long as both players remain in manager Smith's plans.
"I think it is improving," he said.
"We are starting to get an understanding of each other. We're linking well and helping the team.
"As long as the two of us can keep going the way we're going, I'm sure we will stay in the team."
Frustration
As well as Boyd's effort, Nacho Novo was also denied by the woodwork when his shot struck the post and Rangers looked in danger of dropping points when the game remained deadlocked at half-time.
But an opener from David Weir shortly after the restart followed by goals from Boyd, Miller and Steven Whittaker ensured a comfortable win in the end despite a frustrating opening 45 minutes.
Boyd admits the game should have been over as a contest by half-time, instead of providing Kilmarnock with hope of taking something from the match.
"We had so many chances in the first half that we could have won the game then," he said.
"I was delighted to get on the scoresheet in the second half and run out comfortable winners in the end."
