Celtic boss tones down training to avoid fresh knocks

Gordon Strachan has revealed Celtic have reverted to non-contact training in a bid to avoid picking up any fresh injuries. The Bhoys boss was without a full team of players for last weekend's clash with Motherwell but still claimed all three points courtesy of a 2-0 success. Strachan has confirmed that Glenn Loovens, Georgios Samaras and Shunsuke Nakamura have returned to training, although they are all lacking match sharpness. "There are a few players like Glenn Loovens, Georgios Samaras and Shunsuke Nakamura back but training has been non-contact," he admitted. "We have tried our best not to have any contact in our training because we have so many people injured at the moment."

Unscathed

With Celtic having no less than six internationals in George Burley's squad to face Argentina next week Strachan is crossing his fingers Gary Caldwell, Stephen McManus, Scott Brown, Paul Hartley, Shaun Maloney and Barry Robson come away from the match unscathed. "There's nothing I can do about players being called up. If they are called up, they are called up, and we will get on with it," he continued. "Six of the guys participated in the last Scotland game. To get six players in the same international side is some going. "I'm proud if them. I'm proud that none of them felt it was too much for them and they wanted to play and George is pleased with them. "He is absolutely delighted with the Celtic lads."
