Wales boss down to the bare bones in midfield department

Wales boss John Toshack has been dealt a huge blow ahead of the friendly with Denmark in Copenhagen on Wednesday. Five midfielders from the manager's initial squad have been forced to pull out after the weekend's fixtures. Fulham midfielder Simon Davies is arguably the biggest loss for Toshack after he sustained an Achilles injury in Saturday's victory over Tottenham. Other key absentees are Wigan's Jason Koumas, who is out with a groin problem while Cardiff's Joe Ledley has withdrawn due to a hand injury. Also out of the trip are Blackpool's David Vaughan with a calf problem and Carl Fletcher, who is on loan at Nottingham Forest from Crystal Palace, due to a bad back.

Re-enforcements

Toshack has decided to add just two players as replacements. Benefiting are Cardiff defender Darcy Blake and Swansea midfielder Owain Tudur Jones. Blake is the latest member of the Under-21 squad to be called into the senior group. He travelled with the senior squad last season for games in Iceland and Holland but did not get a run-out.
