Veteran says team comes first

Hull midfielder Nick Barmby is happy to play a waiting game as he looks for a first Premier League start since the opening game of the season. The veteran came on as a substitute for the Tigers in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the KC Stadium. It was the former England international's first contribution on the pitch since suffering a calf injury in the 5-0 defeat to Wigan on 30th August. While the 34-year-old is now pressing to start for Phil Brown's side at Portsmouth on Saturday, he is happy to be patient for an opening. The former Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Everton and Liverpool midfielder told the Hull Daily Mail: "I said at the start of the season it is important everyone gets behind the team, whoever is playing.

Main goal

"The main goal is for us to stay in the Premiership, so you won't find anyone moaning or sulking here. "You have to get on with it, bide your time and then if you get in you have to do the business."
