QPR boss plays down role in first defeat
Paulo Sousa called for understanding after Queens Park Rangers' loss to Watford, while Malky Mackay admitted he was hopeful of becoming the new full-time boss at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets ended a five-game losing streak as goals from Tommy Smith, Darren Ward and Lee Williamson sealed a 3-0 victory.
Sousa, who only took the reins at QPR in midweek, watched from the stands and was disappointed with the performance of his new side.
"I have been here for two days but I cannot change everything," he said.
"There is no pressure. I am here to build a medium, long-term project, to build a solid base to go into the Premier League.
"When you go to the Premier League without a base you go down.
"I have a contract, I know what I need to do. I believe in these players and I know the results are coming.
"It was a bad performance, especially in the first half.
"I do not think the players have confidence within themselves and we need to work very hard.
"To change these things we need to work really hard. I believe slowly it will come."
Mackay hope
Mackay has been in caretaker charge at Watford since the departure of Aidy Boothroyd and expects a permanent appointment in the coming days.
"To get the three points and come out of the relegation places was important," he said.
"I have to make sure I win more games than I lose and that gives me the chance to put a case together to make the decision easier for them.
"All three of us including (the chairman and chief executive) have been at the club for a while now so we know the heartbeats of the club.
"I have been immensely proud to be caretaker manager and I put my case forward for the actual managership.
"I would be delighted to get it."
