Striker to sit out BATE game due to ankle injury
Gonzalo Higuain will miss Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League trip to BATE Borisov after suffering a sprained ankle.
The striker picked up the knock in Real's 1-0 win over Recreativo on Saturday and his injury merely adds to coach Bernd Schuster's selection problems.
Schuster is already without Ruud van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben, Mahamadou Diarra, Ruben de la Red and Fabio Cannavaro for Tuesday's game in Belarus.
The Real coach has drafted Alberto Bueno into his squad for the fixture, but concedes he can not afford any more injuries.
Bad news
"The bad news for us is Higuain has sprained his ankle," said Schuster.
"I hope he will be back soon as we can't continue like this. It is harming us a lot and we can't compete on all fronts.
"It is difficult to find an explanation because almost all of the injuries are coming from matches. We can't be in this situation in November."
Real will qualify from Group H with victory over BATE, providing Zenit St Petersburg also fail to beat current leaders Juventus.
