AZ Alkmaar opened a three-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie following a 2-0 away victory over title rivals FC Groningen.
David Mendes and Ari secured the victory which stretches AZ's unbeaten run to 11 games.
Mendes broke the deadlock in the 27th minute as AZ took control at Euroborg stadium.
Fourth-placed Groningen went into the encounter hoping to secure the three points which would allow them to draw level with their visitors.
But they could not find an equaliser and Brazilian striker Ari doubled AZ's advantage with two minutes remaining.
