Winger looking to seek fresh challenge away from Tynecastle
Hearts winger Saulius Mikoliunas has admitted that this may be his last season in Scotland as he seeks a new challenge in his career.
The winger is currently recovering in his native Lithuania after damaging knee ligaments against St Mirren last month.
Mikoliunas, 24, has been on loan at Tynecastle for four seasons from FBK Kaunas but was expected to join Greek club Larissa last summer.
The deal eventually collapsed after a fee could not be agreed with Vladimir Romanov.
Mikoliunas told
The Scotsman: "The conditions at Hearts are perfect. Edinburgh, wonderful city and the Scots are crazy for football.
"But I have stayed there four years, therefore I would like something new. Some new challenges.
Mikoliunas was targeted by rival fans last season after television replays showed he dived to earn a penalty playing for his country against Scotland in a European qualifier.
In the end the Scots won 3-1 and the Hearts man insists this has not influenced his decision.
Targeted
He said: "It looks like fans are starting to forget that (penalty) incident against Scotland but referees look at me through a magnifying glass.
"It is frustrating when you get booked for nothing but I just accept it."
The Lithuanian international also defends his decision to return to his homeland to receive treatment.
He added: "I just think that there are many good doctors in Lithuania. Lithuanian national team doctors help me.
"I will have laser and other procedures here in Vilnius. It is more pleasant to heal in Lithuania.
"I will have more time to be with my parents and family, I will meet my friends. Usually I don't have enough time for this but now I will have."
