Cluj playmaker hits out over lack of respect
CFR Cluj playmaker Juan Culio has vowed to make Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari pay for a 'lack of respect'.
Scolari admitted that if the Blues fail to beat the Romanian outfit in their final UEFA Champions League Group A fixture he would be better off packing his bags and returning to Brazil.
Victory at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night would ensure Scolari's side reach the last 16 of the competition, while a draw or even a defeat would see them progress unless Bordeaux defeat Roma in the Eternal City.
But the Brazilian's comments have not gone down well with Argentine midfielder Culio, who scored twice in Cluj's shock 2-1 victory away to Roma in their opening game.
Respect
He told
The Sun: "I think with the declarations that Scolari has made, he is under pressure. The truth is it was a lack of respect for Cluj and Romanian football.
"He can't just say that if Cluj win or draw he will leave and go to Brazil. Those words have gone down very badly with our players.
"If someone respects me, I will respect him too. If they don't respect me, I won't have any respect for them.
"Scolari is a great manager, one of the best in the world. But with the experience he has, he cannot make these statements. Our first game against Roma showed we have the ability to beat great teams."
Pressure
The Champions League newcomers have nothing to play for and are certain to end the campaign in last place in Group A, but Culio feels that will help them perform with greater freedom in West London.
He added: "The pressure Chelsea will be under will be an advantage for us. We have nothing to lose. We are coming to play.
"They will throw everything at us because they must win. So we will have to take advantage of that.
"They struggle to break down tight defences, unlike Barcelona. Barcelona can, that's why, for me, they're the Champions League favourites, not Chelsea."
