Veteran midfielder poised for Brunton Park stay
Carlisle manager Greg Abbott is confident Sunderland will agree to extend Graham Kavanagh's loan spell at Brunton Park.
Kavanagh has played a pivotal role in the Carlisle side since arriving in October for an initial one-month loan deal.
The midfielder impressed enough to prompt another spell with the Cumbrian outfit and the 35-year-old was instrumental in helping end a 12-game winless streak against Brighton.
With the second month at the club due to expire after Saturday's clash with league-leaders Leicester, Abbott appears determined to extend the Irishman's stay with the League One side.
"I have had talks with their caretaker manager Ricky Sbragia and it's looking good," Abbott told the
News and Star.
Kavanagh has been a virtual ever-present since arriving from the Stadium of Light, making 13 appearances and scoring three goals.
