New boss ready to set about leading the club to safety

Walter Novellino is excited by the challenge of trying to turn around Torino's season. The experienced coach was reinstalled as the troubled club's manager on Tuesday following the sacking of Gianni De Biasi. Novellino was only relieved of his duties at Stadio Olimpico back in April, but had no hesitation in making a quick return to the hot-seat. The Turin club have endured a torrid 2008/09 campaign so far and only sit outside the Serie A relegation zone by virtue of boasting a superior goal difference to Reggina. Despite the obvious problems which have inflicted the team, Novellino insists he is the ideal candidate to bring about a reversal in fortunes.

Mistakes

"I have a strong desire to start work and to help Torino recover from their current predicament," he said. "The team have good players and are capable of recovering. "I have learnt a lot from my experiences here last season. I made mistakes and I accept that." Torino president Urbano Cairo also believes that Novellino is capable of guiding the club away from danger. "I think he is the right choice," he said. "He was always my first choice. He is not motivated by money."
