PSV Eindhoven have confirmed they failed in a bid to land Chelsea defender Alex on loan.
Alex is reportedly unsettled at Stamford Bridge after making just five Premier League starts this season.
The Blues, however, insisted on Thursday that they have not recieved a transfer request from the powerful centre-back.
PSV were keen to bring Alex - who played at Philips Stadion from 2004 to 2007 - back to Holland but had an offer rejected by Chelsea.
"We contacted Chelsea, but the answer was clear: they don't want to let him go under any circumstances," PSV director Jan Reker told Dutch newspaper
De Telegraaf.
