Benson nets for Daggers before game is abandoned

Floodlight failure at Victoria Park denied Dagenham victory against promotion-chasing Exeter. John Still's side were a goal up, courtesy of Paul Benson's 14th of the season, and looking good value for a first win in four when the lights went out after 38 minutes and the referee then decided to abandon the game at half-time. Exeter were attempting to keep up with the automatic promotion race in League Two and will now get another chance when the clash is rearranged. Magnus Okuonghae went close for the hosts with an early drive from the edge of the area which flew wide, while Sam Saunders crashed a shot over the top. Saunders then forced a save from Grecians keeper Paul Jones with a snap-shot before Benson broke the deadlock. The frontman struck on the half-hour when he pounced on Saunders' right-wing cross and tucked the ball past Jones before the lights went out.
