Defensive coach accepts Ewood Park exit is a possibility
Blackburn Rovers defensive coach Nigel Winterburn recognises that he faces an uncertain future at Ewood Park following the departure of Paul Ince.
Former manager Ince was sacked on Tuesday as a 3-0 weekend defeat at Wigan proved to be the end of his six-month tenure with the Premier League strugglers.
And Winterburn, who was brought to Rovers by Ince on a one-year contract in the summer, confesses he is now unsure of his part-time position.
"Will I still be at Blackburn? I don't know," Winterburn told
Sky Sports News. "I'll have to try and get hold of the chairman (John Williams) and see what happens.
"Obviously they are going to bring in a new manager and he may not feel that a defensive coach is neccesary.
"The football club know that when I signed my one-year contract that, if things did not work for whatever reason, I was happy for that contract to be terminated."
Winterburn also feels that Ince's eventual successor faces a difficult task because of a lack of money at Rovers.
"They are going to have to bring someone in who can wheel and deal," added the former Arsenal full-back.
"I don't know who that will be because I don't think there is a lot of money at the club."
