Swansea's on-loan defender Stephen O'Halloran is set to be sidelined for the rest of the season.

On-loan defender needs surgery on knee problem

Swansea's on-loan defender Stephen O'Halloran is set to be sidelined for the rest of the season. The full-back, who moved to the Liberty Stadium from Aston Villa in November, sustained a knee injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sheffield United. He had to be stretchered off after a challenge with James Beattie and scans have now revealed the extent of the damage. O'Halloran will need surgery to repair cruciate ligaments and has been ruled out for six months. The 21-year-old, who is due to return to Villa in February, will therefore miss the rest of Swansea's Championship campaign.
