Leeds legend thinks applications for manager will flood in
Leeds legend Norman Hunter believes the vacant manager's post at Elland Road is one of the "best jobs in the country".
Following Gary McAllister's sacking Hunter is sure there will be no shortage of applicants for the job.
He told
Sky Sports News: "I'm sure there will be plenty of good candidates out there who fancy taking Leeds United at this moment.
"The club is well set up and I think it is an excellent job for an experienced guy who wants to step back into the game.
"I don't think it is a hard job. I think it is one of the best jobs in the country."
A leading contender for the post is likely to be former Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd.
The 37-year-old left Vicarage Road in November but has ties with the Yorkshire club after spending a year at Elland Road as coach during the 2004-05 season.
Hunter admitted he thought McAllister would be given more time despite five defeats in a row, including a 1-0 defeat to non-league Histon in the FA Cup.
He added: "I am disappointed for Gary, he is a nice man and I like him but results have just not gone his way.
"I thought he was under pressure but I didn't think it would happen as quick.
"I thought he might have been given the period over Christmas and New Year to go into the transfer market but the board have made their decision."
