Chelsea manager stays silent after Terry dismissed against Everton

Luiz Felipe Scolari skipped the post-match press conference after Chelsea's 0-0 draw at Everton for fear of 'getting into trouble'. Chelsea missed out on the chance to leapfrog Liverpool into top spot in the Premier League following Monday night's stalemate at Goodison Park. The title contenders played much of the game with 10 men after captain John Terry was sent off in the first half for a challenge on Leon Osman. Blues boss Scolari was unhappy with the defender's dismissal and also took issue with other decisions made by referee Phil Dowd. Scolari did not conduct any interviews after the match and Chelsea confirmed it was due to a concern about the possible ramifications of any comments.

Issues

A Chelsea spokesman said: "None of the management team feel able to come up for a press conference. "They had issues with a number of decisions and felt that they could well get themselves into trouble if they did speak." Terry, whose tackle was described as 'reckless' by Everton manager David Moyes, will now face a three-match ban, if Chelsea do not appeal. It means the centre-half will miss the upcoming Premier League games against West Brom and Fulham, and the FA Cup third-round tie against Southend United. However, the suspension will be over by the time Chelsea head to title rivals Manchester United on Sunday 11th January.
