Clarets boss demands a response as O'Driscoll revels in unlikely victory

Burnley manager Owen Coyle insists that his side will have to answer for their errors following a second consecutive defeat. After losing to Barnsley on Boxing Day, Coyle's side fell once again to strugglers Doncaster in a 2-1 defeat and continued to surrender further ground in the race for promotion to the Premier League. However, Burnley were very much the masters of their own downfall on this occasion, with defender Clarke Carlisle committing a dreadful error to hand Doncaster the lead before Steve Caldwell conceded a penalty and earned himself a red card in the process. "We shot ourselves in the foot and I can't stand by and let that happen," admitted Coyle. "The first goal was self-inflicted and we just have to stop making silly mistakes and get back on track. "We have a lot to look forward to in the second half of the season and we will just have to lick our wounds and get on with the job. "We battled well in the second half and might have salvaged a point but we will just to have to learn from our mistakes."

Rovers resurgence

The current picture looks far rosier for Doncaster though, with their position in the relegation places being merely a matter of goal difference now. And just as importantly, the win over Burnley will provide a huge confidence boost as Sean O'Driscoll's side aim to secure another year in the Championship. "We started off the boil but we got better as the game went on and were a threat all afternoon," said O'Driscoll of his side's performance against the Clarets. "Burnley have some good players and were never going to throw the towel in but I thought we did well and could have had more goals to show for our performance. "They were still a threat when they were down to 10 men and I knew it wasn't going to be a rout but it could have been all over much earlier if their keeper hadn't made some good saves."
