Former Hammers boss plays down Derby and Forest talk

Alan Curbishley has told Sky Sports News that he is holding out for a return to Premier League management. The former Charlton and West Ham boss has been out of work since walking away from Upton Park in September. He has been strongly linked with the vacant posts at Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Derby, with both clubs having recently parted with their managers. However, Curbishley has been quick to play down the speculation, making it clear that he would favour a return to top-flight action. "No disrespect to the clubs out there at the moment, but I've been a Premier League manager for the last 10 years and that's where I want to go back to if I can," he told Sky Sports News. "We'll have to see what happens. "Once you've been in the Premier League, if you talk to anyone about it, that's where you want to be and I think I have earned the right to go back in there if there is an opportunity for me." Curbishley was touted as a potential candidate for the recently filled Sunderland and Blackburn posts, but has seen Ricky Sbragia and Sam Allardyce fill those voids.
