Brazilian ace denies wanting to leave Inter

Inter Milan striker Adriano has stated that he has no urge to leave the San Siro. The Brazilian, currently recovering from a thigh strain in Brazil, has been linked with a move away from Inter after a turbulent time on and off the pitch in the last two seasons. It had appeared that the 26-year-old was on his way out as soon as the January transfer window after his manager Jose Mourinho was quoted as saying the striker could leave the club. Since his spectacular form for previous club Parma and during his early years for Inter, Adriano has been a shadow of his former self. With constant speculation regarding his private life, and people continuing to question his professionalism, many had expected the burly front man to be on his way as soon as Mourinho was appointed at the start of the season.

Denial

"I never said that I wanted to leave," Adriano told LanceNet. "I will return to Italy in time for the beginning of training. If I find myself on the transfer market I would have plenty of options, but I would probably stay in Europe." Adriano has featured only seven times in Serie A this season, scoring the one goal, and reports have recently linked him with a move to former club Flamengo back in Brazil. "I love Flamengo, I grew up there and I have already said that if I was to go back they would be my first choice," the striker responded. "But I don't believe it will happen at this stage of my career." Despite their differences of late, Adriano declares that he still shares a good relationship with the former Chelsea boss. "Mourinho is a great coach and we get on well. He is a loyal person and I think he will give me a chance to play."
