Accies looking to sign Rangers youngster in loan deal

Hamilton manager Billy Reid is hoping to sign Rangers defender Jordan McMillan on loan in time for Saturday's game with Aberdeen. The 20-year-old is captain of the Gers' reserve side and has been named on the bench for the first team on a number of occasions this season, without making an appearance. The deal would mean that McMillan, who is held in high regard at Ibrox, would spend the rest of the season with the SPL strugglers. Reid explained that the youngster's versatility is one of the reasons why he moved for the player and the boss admits the defender could go straight into his side on Saturday. "I'm hopeful that Jordan will be in the squad for Saturday," he said. "He's the captain of Rangers reserves. He's been captain for the last two years, which is quite remarkable considering he's only 20-years-old. "He's a young lad, whose not had a chance yet, obviously at a big club. He's never played a senior game but that doesn't concern me.

"I think he's the type we need, he's got a decent turn of pace and he's a winner. He can play in a few positions. "He can play at full-back, he's more than capable of playing centre-back, though he's not the biggest, and he can get into the middle of the park, so he gives us a few options. "I know he's hungry, which is really important. At our club we give young players a chance and we'll do that with Jordan. "I've known him since he was 12-years-old. He's been at Rangers since he was ten or 11. "I believe that with a chance, Jordan can be a smashing player." Reid is hopeful that despite having little cash to spend in the January transfer window he can freshen up his squad with the addition of a number of loan signings. "We won't splash the cash in terms of buying players, we're not in a position to do that. "But we've got one or two other options. I've got a list of names and hopefully we can tidy things up a bit."
