Whites boss not looking to cash in on talented midfielder
Leeds United manager Simon Grayson says it will take 'ridiculous' money to prise talented teenager Fabian Delph away from Elland Road.
Speculation on Friday linked the 19-year-old midfielder with a move to Manchester United in a deal that could rise to £10million along with Leeds acquiring Darron Gibson and Rodrigo Possebon on loan.
However, with Leeds now on a stable financial footing Grayson says the club are under no pressure to raise funds, including parting with Delph, who only penned a fresh long-term deal in September.
Delph enhanced his growing reputation with a fine strike from distance against Stockport last Sunday. With goalkeeper Owain fon Williams stranded the youngster chipped home what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Talent
"He's a talent," Grayson told
Sky Sports News. "He proved that with the goal he scored at Stockport and the reputation that he's building up when it's not just Manchester United that have allegedly been talking about him.
"The other two or three big clubs in the Premier League are after him as well, but that's just speculation. It's full credit to the player that he's made an impact but at this moment in time he's a Leeds United player.
"He's done ever so well for me and I've been told already that I don't have to sell him. We're not in a position that we have to sell. He's certainly a player I want to keep hold of, but if someone offers absolutely ridiculous money then that sometimes comes into consideration.
"At this moment in time he is our player and not a player that I'm looking to sell."
