Former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has been sentenced to 18 months in jail on corruption charges.
The controversial head of the GEA World football agency pays the price for his involvement in the match-fixing scandal which rocked Italian football in 2006.
Moggi was at the helm as Juve enjoyed a glittering period in their history at the end of the 1990s and the turn of the 21st century, regularly claiming titles at home and abroad.
However, an investigation into the intentions of certain clubs towards a selection of Serie A referees saw his dealings fall under the microscope.
The Turin giants were deemed to have been guilty of affecting the outcome of games by illegitimate means and were promptly stripped of two league titles and demoted to Serie B.
Moggi, meanwhile, was handed a sizeable fine and banned from football for five years.
The investigation has continued since the contentious issue broke three years ago and Moggi is now facing a custodial sentence as a result of his actions.
Agent Davide Lippi, the son of Italy's national coach Marcello, will hear if he too faces jail in the near future.
