Charlton lose winger to Championship high-flyers
Birmingham City have signed Fulham's Hameur Bouazza on loan for the rest of the season from under Charlton Athletic's noses.
The French-born winger had been on a
season-long loan at The Valley, but had a clause in his deal that allowed him to move on in January.
The loss of Bouazza is a blow to Charlton's hopes of avoiding the drop with the cash-strapped Championship outfit already five points adrift of Nottingham Forest.
Blues boss Alex McLeish believes the St Andrews' outfit have done nothing wrong and that the 23-year-old, who he scouted as Rangers boss, will make a fine addition to his squad.
On the radar
"I've looked at him for a couple of years now and I had him on the radar at Rangers," he told the club's
official website.
"I thought he was a promising young player; quick, direct, knows the English system and can do a job when team work is required.
"He has done very well at Charlton.
"It was made clear to me that there was a clause that would allow him to move in January. I know Charlton probably feel aggrieved at it but we've done nothing wrong."
