Hibs boss not surprised by bid for skipper
Mixu Paatelainen is confident Rob Jones is committed to Hibernian after a bid from Colchester United was rejected.
Colchester saw a £100,000 offer for Jones rejected earlier this week, with Hibs unhappy the League One club made their interest public.
Paatelainen is not surprised the defender is attracting interest from other clubs, but the Hibs boss expects his skipper to stay at Easter Road.
"I am not surprised there has been interest in Rob," said Paatelainen in the
Daily Record.
Fantastic
"There is always speculation about good players. I was just surprised that Colchester made details of their bid public.
"They made a bid, it was rejected and that should have been the end of the matter. There should have been nothing else to say.
"Rob has been fantastic for us and is enjoying being captain. You can see that in his performances and in his reactions when he scores or assists in a goal.
"A player who is not committed to this club would not behave like that. He is also fantastic on the training ground and we are delighted to have him at the club.
"We are in a great financial position and do not need to sell our players.
"If we feel it's not time for certain players to leave then they will not leave. But I know there will eventually come a time when players will move on."
