Bowyer to miss out on Birmingham debut at Blackpool

There will be several new faces on show at Blackpool for the visit of Birmingham - but Lee Bowyer will not be one of them. Blackpool caretaker manager Tony Parkes looks set to field loan signings DJ Campbell and Graeme Owens to face the Blues - plus Friday signing Roy O'Donovan from Sunderland. O'Donovan - a proven goalscorer in the Eirecom League before signing for the Black Cats - has been brought in until the end of the season. And loanees Scott Sinclair and Hameur Bouazza will take their first steps in Birmingham colours in the same clash. But midfielder Bowyer, an end of the season loan swoop from West Ham, will not be ready until Birmingham shape up against Cardiff next weekend.

Forward boosts

In better news for Blues boss Alex McLeish, frontman Kevin Phillips has declared himself fit after a hip problem and fellow forward James McFadden has recovered from a virus. That will make up for the absences of David Murphy and Keith Fahey - both suspended - and Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larsson, who has a groin injury. Blackpool, meanwhile, are hoping for a win to break their run of four back-to-back league draws - and to erase the memory of losing to non-league Torquay in the FA Cup last week. Midfielder Gary Taylor-Fletcher is back in contention after missing that match, but skipper Rob Edwards could again be missing from the Seasiders' backline with a hamstring strain, along with striker Steve McPhee (knee) and Danny Mitchley (foot).
