Striker to join Darlo on loan until end of season

Darlington are poised to sign Carlisle striker Danny Carlton, skysports.com understands. The Quakers are believed to have beaten off interest from a host of clubs including Accrington Stanley, Morecambe and Bury to sign Carlton on loan until the end of the season. Carlisle are willing to loan out Carlton as he is currently down the pecking order at Brunton Park. The 25-year-old has scored just three goals for the club since joining from Morecambe in the summer of 2007 and was loaned back to the Shrimps at the end of 2008, scoring twice in nine appearances. Morecambe were keen to keep Carlton, but Quakers boss Dave Penney has jumped in to lure the striker to Darlington.
