Verbeek goes after poor first half to the season
Feyenoord have sacked coach Gertjan Verbeek after he lost the support of the club's experienced players.
Verbeek only took charge at De Kuip last summer, having previously enjoyed success at Heracles Almelo and Heerenveen.
However, Feyenoord endured a woeful first half of the season and sit 12th in the table, 22 points behind leaders AZ Alkmaar.
Though Verbeek retained the backing of the club's supporters, it was not enough to preserve his job.
"To my regret, our roads have separated," said Feyenoord general director Eric Gudde.
In addition to Verbeek's exit, assistant coach Wim Jansen and technical director Peter Bosz have also left the Dutch club.
Feyenoord have put Leon Vlemmings, who joined the club at the same time as Verbeek, in caretaker charge.
