Question marks had been raised as to the Frenchman's commitment to the club following Roy Keane's - the man who signed him - resignation in December.
The Black Cats do have the option to bring Cisse in on a full-time basis at the end of the season should they meet a valuation previously agreed with his parent club Marseille.
The Ligue 1 giants are keen to take the enigmatic forward back to his homeland to help ease their striker crisis, but the former Liverpool man insists his future lies on Wearside.
"I can understand why they would try to take me back, but no, to be honest, I want to stay here," Cisse said in the
Daily Star.
"For the moment, I'm good here. I have scored nine goals and my target was 15, which is still possible.
"If I'm offered a contract at the end of the season, why change?"
Frustration
Cisse has also leapt to the defence of his compatriot Pascal Chimbonda after the full-back was involved in a heated exchange with team-mate Nyron Nosworthy moments after Sunderland's 1-1 derby draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday.
"He (Chimbonda) is a good player and we are happy that he is staying," he added.
"He is a good character, a funny guy and there are no problems with him.
"What happened with Nyron was just a sign of frustration because we were disappointed we did not win the game.
"They are friends - we are all friends in the team."
