Manager appointed on temporary basis
Egil Olsen has been appointed as Norway coach for their three friendly matches.
Age Hareide resigned last month following a run of poor results and Norway are looking to appoint a permanent successor.
Olsen has only been named as temporary boss but he hopes to be offered a more long-term position.
Norway are currently bottom of World Cup qualifying Group 9 with two points from three games but Olsen is optimistic he can turn the situation around.
Olsen spent eight years at the Norway helm earlier in his career and took the team to the World Cup finals in 1994 and 1998.
Asked about the prospect of being in charge for the 2010 tournament in South Africa, Olsen told Norwegian daily VG: "I would like be a part of that.
Olsen's first match in charge will be a friendly away to Germany on 11th February.
The experienced coach also spent time as Wimbledon manager from 1999 to 2000, while last year he was sacked as Iraq boss.
