Czech playmaker set to sign new contract
Pavel Nedved is ready to postpone his retirement and sign a pay-as-you-play deal at Juventus.
The former Czech Republic international will be out of contract in the summer and, at 36-years-old, was expected to hang up his boots.
It had been reported that the former European Footballer of the Year had been offered a coaching role at Juve's academy, where he would get the opportunity to develop his son's - also called Pavel - fledgling career.
However, the Turin giants have now confirmed the possibility of handing Nedved a contract based on the number of appearances he is able to make.
"Will it be Pavel's last season? I wouldn't be so sure," smiled his agent Mino Raiola.
"If he is physically fit, then he will keep on playing.
"If not, then he will stay within the football world. He loves kids and the role of being a teacher. Plus he has a real instinct for new talent, as he was the one to point me towards Zdenek Grygera and Maxwell.
"Who can replace him? It's tough and the only one I can see who might follow in his footsteps is Marek Hamsik of Napoli."
