Spurs boss believes striker must respond positively

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he does not regret hitting out at Darren Bent for his late miss against Portsmouth on Sunday. With the White Hart Lane match finely poised at 1-1, Bent had the chance to make himself the match-winner, but somehow sent a back post header wide from David Bentley's cross. Redknapp's frustration at the time was clear for all to see, leading him to joke his wife could have done better and found the back of the net. The former Pompey boss has no qualms with his post-match criticism of the striker and says players must have the ability to respond positively after making a mistake.

No regrets

"I don't regret saying it," said Redknapp. "If I had the hump every time somebody said something about me I wouldn't go out every morning. It's frightening really. "Sometimes you say what you think and people take offence. I've spoken to him and there is no problem. "You keep pussyfooting around with people - what am I supposed to say? Really good try? Really unlucky? He's really done his best with that?"
