Michael Ballack admits Chelsea are facing a make-or-break week in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
The Blues face a home clash with Middlesbrough on Wednesday, before heading to Anfield for a crunch showdown with Liverpool on Sunday.
Luiz Felipe Scolari's men currently sit two points behind leaders Manchester United and have played a game more than the Red Devils.
Ballack is therefore all too aware of how crucial it is for Chelsea to still be in touch by the time they leave Merseyside.
"We know it's difficult to win at Anfield but it's not impossible," said the Germany international.
"If we want to go back to the top, we have to win but Wednesday is the immediate focus.
"We have dropped too many points at home and we have to be careful.
"We've not had good performances this year against the big teams. That has to change if we are to win the title."
